The Spirit

The ESL is based on the idea that many European countries have their own national skydiving leagues, which organize regular competitions throughout the season. These events determine the results and rankings of the teams within their respective national leagues. The national winners then earn the right to represent their country at the European Skydiving League Final.

This system is exactly what creates the unique atmosphere of the ESL Final: many teams from different nations come together in the beautiful Saarland to compete in skydiving. Another special feature of the competition is that not only do individual teams compete to win in their respective categories, but there is also an overall nations ranking. In 2016, 2017, and 2024, Germany was able to secure first place in this nations ranking.

In 2017, we were pleased to welcome 22 teams from 7 nations to FSZ Saar. The goal for the 2026 final is to host 30 teams from 10 nations—and we are working hard to achieve this.
